Coarse Fishing in Spain

Coarse fishing is Spain is a completely untapped resource. While we are all aware of the quality of the catfish fishing from the might River Ebro, the rest of the county tends to be largely ignored. The actual coarse angling picture is quite impressive. Excellent fishing for carp, barbel, black bass and pike abounds, with lots of opportunites for other species.

Methods and tackle need not be as complicated or as specialist as some of you might be used to in the UK or northern Europe. This is not to say that modern tactics do not have a part to play. On the contrary, the results speak for themselves. What I am keen to impress, is that for those of us who sometimes really like to get back to basics, then Spain can accomodate us quite nicely. Baits can be simple too - with more carp and barbel caught on beans and maize by local anglers than high protein pastes!

We will expand the species of fish in this section to include tthe amazing salmon fishing of Galicia and other species and areas in time.
