Weather in Teruel

Teruel

This is the southern most region of Aragon. The capital city, Teruel also, is a wealth of old buildings and architecture. The city is also the smallest provincial capital in Spain. The rest of the region is very rural, and some would say Spain at its most impressive, with high mountains, lush valleys and dry plains.

Click on a fishery in the list to go straight to that fishery. Otherwise simply use the scroll bar to navigate throughout this page. In Spain, a day ticket fishery does not necessarily cost you money. Most simply require permission from the relevant authority.

Rio Jiloca Angling Club,

44200 Calamocha,

Tip: This fishery has suffered quite a bit from pollution and over fishing. Worth doing some research before setting out.

Embalse de Santolea

This day ticket fishery has good fishing for both coarse and game fish. 200 permissions a day are issued, with this doubling to 400 on festive days and Saturdays.
Tickets can be obtained from

Bar Como Tú
Castellote or

Servicio Provincial  de Agricultura y Medio Ambiente
c/San Francisco, 27
44071 Teruel.
Tel.: +34 978 64 11 45 or

Federación Aragonesa de Pesca
c/Padre Marcellán, 15
50015  Zaragoza.
Tel:  +34 976 73 08 27

Species and Methods

  • Trout. Spinning with minnow type lures such as a ‘devon’ works well. A fish of 8.5 kilos (18.7 lbs) was reported from here! Both brown and rainbow trout are present
  • Carp/Barbel. This water is more noted for its bass and trout fishing, however, a good head of carp and barbell are present. Most fish are small, but some nice mixed bags can be taken on swimfeeder tactics.
  • Bass. Fish to 1.5 kilos (3.3 lbs) are present. They can be caught while spinning for trout with ‘devons’, but rubber worms and the like fished more slowly will produce a lot more fish.
  • Madrilla. Fish pieces of worm or maggot on a light float rig for lots of these small fish.

Embalse del Arquillo

This day ticket fishery has good fishing for both coarse and game fish. 200 permissions a day are issued, with this doubling to 400 on festive days and  Saturdays.
Tickets can be obtained from

San Blas or

Servicio Provincial  de Agricultura y Medio Ambiente
c/San Francisco, 27
44071 Teruel.

Federación Aragonesa de Pesca
c/Padre Marcellán, 15
50015  Zaragoza.
Tel:  +34 976 73 08 27

Species and Methods

  • Trout. Not a lot of fish present, so probably not worthwhile specifically targeting them. Some fish will come to worms intended for bass or barbel.
  • Tench. Ledgered bread flake or corn over a hemp based groundbait will bring some tench, although the population is relatively small.
  • Barbel. Fish to 6 kilos (13.2 lbs) have been caught here. The bigger fish tend to come from the tail of the fishery. Fish pellets or paste over hemp for plenty of action. Boilies also score.
  • Bass. These take a back seat to the barbell on this water. Worm and maggots produce lots of small fish.
  • Madrilla. Fish pieces of worm or maggot on a light float rig for lots of these small fish.

Species and Methods

  • Trout. Not noted for its trout fishing, but some fish are there if you persevere. Fish small spoons or mepps style spinners for the odd fish. Evening time is the best.
  • Carp. This is a very good water for match style fishing for small carp. Good bags can be taken in relatively short periods. Maggots, corn and pellets are the baits to use. Fish a waggler or pole up in the water.
  • Tench. A good population of small fish are present. Fish strawberry corn over groundbait., with a small feeder, for best results.
  • Barbel. Not as prolific as the carp or tench. They tend to be caught while fishing for tench or carp on the bottom. The same tactics employed for tench will work.
