Tarragona
Dominated by the lower Ebro, this is an anglers paradise. Fantastic coarse fishing is available in the main river, with abundant sea fishing opportunities in the delta. Visit Tortosa and try the local tapas!
Click on a fishery in the list to go straight to that fishery. Otherwise simply use the scroll bar to navigate throughout this page. In Spain, a day ticket fishery does not necessarily cost you money. Most simply require permission from the relevant authority.

Castellet i la Gornal - Pantano de Foix
Excellent free fishing here for black bass, carp, barbel and eels.
Species and Methods
- Black Bass.
A large population of small fish are present. Fish using plastic worms, spinnerbaits or simply bump a worm along the bottom.
- Carp.
Very large bags of good sized fish can be had. Fish large, single boilies on a stringer or PVA bag. The fishing is not difficult, so not a bad place if you are a beginner to carp fishing.
- Barbel.
Fish as you would for the carp, but use lots of particles such as hemp or partiblend to get the fishing going. Swim feeder tactics using worms or maggots also works well.
- Eels.
If using worms or maggots then these are unavoidable. They can become a nuisance if not targeting these specifically.

Species and Methods
This has some of the best and varied fishing in Spain. I will not list each species in detail with baits etc. Simply try it out. Carp to 30 lbs, barbel, wels of all sizes, pike, zander, roach, rudd, madrilla, tench and eels abound. The area is spectacular, as is most of the Rio Ebro. Boats are available for hire – or fish from the bank. There are also lots of very good guides available to put you on the fish. The key here is baiting well with lots of particles and boilies. If fishing for predators then lure fishing is very popular. As for the catfish, then……just enjoy! |
