The province of Guadalajara has alot of Roman and Arab sitesof interest, including the bridge across the Henares river in Guadalajara city that was built by the Arabs on Roman foundations.

Salida dew Agua de la Central N uclear Jose Cabrera – Rio Tajo
Free fishing a available on this section of the Rio Tajo, near the outfall from the Jose Cabrera power station. Fishing for carp, bass and pike is available on this deep and fast water.
Species and Methods
- Bass. Good fish to 2 kilos can be taken on small spinners, plugs and spoons.
- Carp. Big fish to 16 kilos are present. Fish standard specimen tactics with stringers or PVA bags. Fish meal boilies are very effective.
- Pike. Plenty of pike can be taken on static deadbaits. Fish in the margins for best results.

Tramo Rio Gallo
Free fishing for trout is available along this 2km stretch of the Rio Gallo. The fishery stretches between xxx. This is a catch and release fishery and a fly only water.

Tramo Rio Jarama
Free fishing for trout is available along this 1.5km stretch of the Rio Jarama. The fishery stretches between the confluence with the Rio Berbellido down to where the Huelgas stream enters the river. This is a catch and release fishery and a fly only water.
Species and Methods
- Trout. Lots of fish are present on this pretty river. Nymph fishing the the best apprach, with red patterns doing quite well. The average size is small, but the surroundings truly make up for it!

Tramo Rio Zarza
Free fishing for trout is available along this extensive 10.2km stretch of the Rio Jarama. The fishery stretches from it's source to the confluence with the Rio Lillas. This is a catch and release fishery and a fly only water.
Species and Methods
- Trout. There is a very large trout population along this river - but the fish tend to congregate in pockets. Fish a roving style, upstream nymphing for best results. A team of small wet fles will also score. Fish up to 500 grams have been recorded. There is a good wild fish population. April is the best month.

Embalse de Bolarque
Free fishing for carp, tench, barbel, bass and pike. This a a long, narrow water. Depths avergae 6 to 7 metres, with lots of bankside vegetation. The bottom is covered with weed and lots of submerged trees.
Species and Methods
- Pike. Lots of rumors abound as to the potential size of pike in this water. Reports of fish to 25 kilos exist !!!!! But a realistic target could be as high as 15 kilos. Most fish average around 3 kilos. Float fish deadbaits at various depths. Or fish spoons and plugs.
- Carp. Plenty of fish in the 1 to 2 kilo range. The weeds and trees can make bottom fishing hard. Try maggots or corn up in the water under a waggler. Otherwise pop-up some artifical corn.
- Tench. Not very common, but can be taken on popped-up cord when carp fishing. Worms will also produce.
- Barbel. Some large fish are rumoured here. Fish meat or pellet over hemp in any weed free area. They will also take samll deadbaits!

Embalse de Entrepenas
Very good free fishing is available on this water. Zander, pike, carp, bass, pumpkinseed, nase and both comizo and common barbel are available to be caught. Boats are allowed with the correct boating permit.
Species and Methods
- Pike/Zander. Plenty of zander to 3 kilos and pike to 2 kilos are present. Spinning with artifical lures is quite productive. Larger fish are present, but tend to be caught from a boat.
- Carp. Fish to 7 kilos can be taken on corn, worm and bread. Boilies are also very good. Fish over a bed of free offerings. Tutti fruti flavour is a favourite.
- Barbel. Fish specimen tactics using meat or pellets for the larger comizo barbel. Maggot or corn feeder will bring plenty of theirsmaller cousins.
- Bass. Big bags of bass to 2 kilos can be had here. Primarily caught boat fishing using American style jigs and spinner baits.
- Pumpkinseed. Vey easy to catch this abuntant little fish. Pieces of worm on a whip outfit, fished close to the edge, will bring lots of action.
- Nase. Fish for these with maggots under a waggler. They tend to frequent the tail of the fishery.

Embalse de Palmaces
Good sport can be had on this large and clear fishery. Pike, barbel, carp and nase are the quarry. Fish size is relatively smnall due to the fishery drying up completely a few years ago during a drought.
Species and Methods
- Pike. Fish to about 5 kilos are present. Fish a small wobbled deadbait for fish during the autumn and spring months. Spoons, plugs and spinners will also produce fish.
- Carp. Corn is the best bait, with maggot a good backup. Fish both of these on a feeder rig over brown crumb and hemp. Most fish are in the 1 kilo range.
- Barbel. Fish in the same manner as for the carp. Mixed bags are the norm here.
- Nase. Maggots fished on the drop with with a waggler or on the pole will bring the fish. Do not fish too light becuase the carp will come up in the water also. Loose feed little and often. Liquidized bread will also help keep the fish interested.

Embalse de Alcorlo
Free fishing for trout, carp, barbel and cauchello. This water can get quite busy due to other water sports.
Species and Methods
- Trout. Seldom targeted and seldom caught, but presnet none the less. They tend to be caught on maggots or worm intended for the carp and barbel.
- Carp. All baits will score, with fish in the 500 gram to 2 kilo range the norm. The odd larger fish to 5 kilos are present. Fish the pole or waggler at 5 metres for plenty of fish.
- Barbel. Fish in the same manner as for the carp. Fsihmeal pellets and paste are a good combination.
- Cauchello. Bread is an excellent bait, fished under a light waggler rig. Otherwise maggots or pieces of worm will score. Expect large bags of these.

Coto de Brihuega - Rio Tajuna
Good 3.3km day ticket stretch of the Rio Tajuna. This is a clear wayer fishery, but depths avergaing 60 cms. The fishery runs between the villages of Yela and Civic. The season runs from the 10th January until the 10th October. Thrse is a 10 fish limit, and fishing is not permitted on Wednesdays. Tickets are available from

- Trout. Fish to 1 kilo are common. Alot of fish respond to freelines or rolled worm and meal worm. Small spinners will also work. Some fish also respond to sweercorn!

Coto de Cifuentes - Rio Cifuentes
A 5km day ticket stretch of the Rio Cifuentes. This is an extremely overgrown water, so fishing is difficult. Unfortunately it is also not the prettiest of rivers! The fishery runs between the villages of Cifuentes and Gargoles de Arriba. The season runs from the 26th February until the 26th September. There is a 10 fish limit, and fishing is not permitted on non ferstive Mondays.
Species and Methods
- Trout. When they can be found, simply free line worm.

Coto de Montes Claros- Rio Jarama
Good 7.5km day ticket stretch of the Rio Jarama. The fishery runs between the confluence with the Rio Huelgas and the village of Matallana. The season runs from the 1st May until the 31st July. This is a catch and release fishery.
Species and Methods
- Trout. Large bags of fish to 30 cms possible. Up to 25 fish in a session is possible. Gold head nymphs are very productive. A really nice place to spend a day fishing.
