Riera de Beget

Quality free fishing for brown trout and mountain barbel. The water is very clear on this small river and access can be difficult in places.

Species and Methods

• Trout. The trout here are quite small, but can be really good sport on a small dry fly or nymph. Bait fishing and spinning is possible in places, but the fly is a far better approach.
• Mountain barbel. Not generally targeted, these hard fighting little fish go up to 500 grams (1.1 lbs). Fish for these using free lined corn or worms.

Coto de Camprodon - Río Ter

Day ticket fishing for trout on a 5km stretch of the Rio Ter between Camprodon and Setcases. There is a 6 fish limit, and a size limit of 21cm. Fishing is not permitted on Tuesdays. There is quite a lot of bank side vegetation making access ad fly casting difficult. Try wading upstream and casting to likely spots to make casting easier.

Coto de El Roig - Río Ter

This 10km stretch of the Rio Ter has good fishing for trout near Ripol and Campdevanol. There is a bag limit of 6, and a size limit of 21cm. Fishing is not permitted on Fridays. This is a day ticket fishery. There are lots of carp present, and they tend to find your worm first!

Species and Methods

• Trout. Lots of small fish to 500 grams (1.1 lbs) present. Fish for these with worms or spin using a small golden or silver mepps.

Embassament de Susqueda

A small, dammed section of the Rio Ter with day ticket fishing for carp and bass. There are reports of pike and even wels catfish being present. Very large bags of small carp can be taken from the dam wall.

Species and Methods

• Carp. Plenty of small fish can be taken to simple ledgering tactics or Bolognese style. Try maggots, worms, beans or corn for bait. Simple brown crumb laced with free offerings or chopped worm will keep the fish interested.
• Bass. Only a small amount of bass present. These can be taken on artificial or bait. Bumping an artificial or real worm near snags and rocks can work quite well.

Coto de Font Viva - Río Freser

This is a 2.6km,  day ticket trout fishery, on the Rio Freser between Gombren and Campdevanol. This is a catch and release fishery, with fishing not permitted on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Species and Methods

• Trout. Fly fish using leaded nymphs or a small wet fly pattern during the spring. Fish a floating line with a sinking tip. Don’t fish too light as this river has lots of hard fighting barbel and carp that will happily take a fly!

Coto de Isovól II - Río Segre

This is a 3.5km,  day ticket trout fishery, on the Rio Segre west of Puigcerda. This is a catch and release fishery, with fishing not permitted on Tuesdays. 30 tickets are available per day.

• Trout. Some very good trout can be taken fly fishing using  the ‘triceptero’ pattern. Fish using as light a leader as possible as these fish can be very wary. Evening time is best.

Coto de Boadella II - Río Muga

Day ticket fishery for trout and coarse fish on a 500 metre stretch of the the Rio Muga. There is a bag limit of 3 trout in place, with a size limit of 21cms.

Species and Methods

• Trout. Try for the trout using small spoons or small rapalas lures. However, use a wire trace due to the pike and zander present.
• Perch. Fish a single or bunch of small worms under a float for plenty of fish. Some larger fish can be taken on small spinners or spinner baits.
• Pike and Zander. Pike to 14 kgs (30lbs) and zander to 9 kgs (19.8lbs) have been reported to plugs and lures. However, ledgered sea fish deadbaits are best for the larger fish.

Coto de Núria-Freser - Río Núria-Freser

This is a 12km,  day ticket trout fishery, on the Rio Nuria-Freser south of Ribes de Freser. Fishing is not permitted on Thursdays. A size limit of 21cms is in place. 15 tickets are available per day.

• Trout. Fish up to 2 kgs (4.4 lbs) can be taken upstream nymphing. Most fish tend be small, but excellent sport in really beautiful surroundings.

Coto de Riera de Vallfogona - Río Vallfogona

This is a 10km, day ticket trout fishery, on the Rio Vallfogona south of Ripoll. Fishing is not permitted on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.  A bag limit of 6 and a size limit of 21cms is in place. 35 tickets are available per day.

• Trout. The trout fishing here can be very difficult, due to ever decreasing water levels over the years. Fish any method for the odd fish.

Coto de Viladrau-Sant Segimon - Río Riera Major

This is a 7km, day ticket trout fishery, on the Rio Riera Major south of Sant Sadurni d’Osormort and west of Espinelves. Fishing is not permitted on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays.  This is a catch an release fishery and is a fly only water.

Species and Methods

• Trout. These fish are very wary, but good sport can be had on a small nymph or patterns such as the ‘coachman’ or ‘royal wulf’. Most fish tend to be small, but good fighters on light tackle.

Banyoles

Banyoles is absolutely stunning lake with great access all round it. Gin clear water from another small spring lake next to it. Loads of accommodation around the lake ranging from pensio's to 4 star hotels. Permitts can be bought from the big hotel on the west bank.

Species and Methods

• Carp. Spring lake contains carp to about 10kg and the big lake has Carp to 17kg. Pre baiting the margins (it steeps off to 5m deep about a rod length out) works wonders as no one really fishes for the carp, they aren't easy to catch though due to the clarity of the water.
  
• Zander. No information at the moment. It is assumed stanard tactics will score.
• Bass. Bass to about 3kg.
