Bordered by the provinces of Cuenca, Albacete, Jaén, Córdoba, Badajoz, and Toledo, this province has two spectaclar parks to its name - the Parque Nacional de las Tablas de Daimiel and also the Parque Nacional de las Tablas de Daimiel. the fisherman is also well catered for also!

Pantano de Penarroya - Rio Guadiana
This 7km long embalse, fed by thge Rio Guadiana, runs upsteam from Ruidera. Good free fishing for pike, bass and barbel is available. The waters are shallow and clear, with lots of vegetation. A really good fish and wildlife habitat.
Species and Methods
- Pike. A good head of pike is present, althoug most fish tend to be small. Fish to 7 kilos are possible though. Wobbled deadbaits or medium sized spoons will get you on the fish.
- Bass. Not as prolific as the pike, but when caught the quality is excellent. Fish small artifical such as rapalas. Try surface poppers at dawn and dusk during the summer months.
- Barbel. Corn over hemp is a good bet. These fish also have a sweet tooth, with strawberry flavoured corn or strawberry mini boilies quite effective.

Embalse de Cabezuela
Excellent, easy fishing for carp, bass and pike. This is wine country, with vineyards surrounding the fishery. The fishing is free.
Species and Methods
- Pike. Spinning with small spoons, plugs or tobys wilkl catch you lots of fish in the 1kilo to 3 kilo bracket. The odd larger fish is present, but rarely taken.
- Bass. Worm is the bait - ledgered, float fished or bumped along the bottom.
- Carp. A huge population of small carp to 2 kilos exist. Fish match tactics - pole or waggler - for lots of fish up in the water to corn and pellet. Bread is a good alternative. Losse feed little and often to get the fish competing in the upper water layers.

Embalse de Vicario
Free fishing for carp is on offer. This embalse has variable depths. The occisionbal monster eel is also present.
Species and Methods

Carp. Fish maize, beans or mnaggots of plenty of fish. Try the waggler or pole. Some bigger fish can be taken using a feeder approach.

Eel. Fish to 5 kilos have been reported. Fish small dead fish or chicken livers for these fish towards dusk. The dam area is the most productive.

Embalse de Montoro
Free fishing for carp, crucians, bass and barbel.
Species and Methods
- Carp. Fish to 3 kilos are common. Try bread or corn over over brown crumb for plenty of action.
- Crucians.Not as common or as easy to catch as their larger cousins, but nice fish can be taken on bread or maggots. Fish light, in typical crucian style.
- Barbel. Fish to 8 kilos are present. Use meat baits - luncheon meat or pieces of sausage. Fish these on a bolt rig, with a scattering of loose offerings over a bed of hemp or wheat.
- Bass. Spinning with rubber lures or small spoons will catch the bass here. Surface poppers are also productive (and great fun!) on calm, summer evenings.

Embalse Torre de Abraham
Really good free fishing for carp, barbel, bass and nase. The water here is very clean.
Species and Methods
- Carp. Fish up to 7 kilos are present. Try mini boilies, pellets or corn as bait. Feed lots of extra offerings. Light ledger rigs or feeder rigs are productive.
- Barbel. Fish as you would for the carp. Halibut pellets are a firm favourite, fished over a bed of mini pellets.
- Nase. Lots of name can be taken. Fish maggot or bread under a light waggler rig. Use liquidized bread to keep the fish interested,
- Bass. Only small fish here. Try maggots or pieces of worm near snags.

Rio Banuelos
This day ticket fishery on the Rio Banuelos has a wide selection of species. The fishery runs upstream from where the Rio Banuelos meets the Rio Guadiana. Anglers must practice catch and releaseif fishing for carp, tench, barbel and other native species excpet the eel. Pike, eel, bass, gudgeon, crucians and pumpkinseed can be killed. 40 tickets per day are available from
