Albacete
Not the typical tourist destination is Spain, Albacete still offers some intersting sites like the new cathedral in Albacete city itself along with the Museo de Albacete. For the fisherman, some excellen fishing can be found on tghe many embalses and rivers in the area.
Click on a fishery in the list to go straight to that fishery. Otherwise simply use the scroll bar to navigate throughout this page. In Spain, a day ticket fishery does not necessarily cost you money. Most simply require permission from the relevant authority.

Tramo Rio Cabriel
Good fishing is available along this 8km stretch of the Rio Cabriel. The fishery stretches between Presa Vieja en la Terrera and Puente Volao. All fish must be returned alive to the water.
Species and Methods
- Trout. While the fishing has deteriorated in recent years, some good fish can still be taken if you work hard enough. Fly, spinner or worm will catch.

Tramo Rio Mundo
Free fishing for trout is available along this 2km stretch of the Rio Mundo. The fishery stretches between the junction of the Mundo with the Fuente de la Plata stream, and it's confluence with the arroyo de la Cañada. This is a catch and release fishery.

Casas de Ves - Rio Jucar
Free fishing is available here for pike and black bass.
Species and Methods
- Pike.A good head of fish is present. Pike tp 8.5 kilos can be taken on a variety of methods. Small, deal trout are an excellent bait - fished popped up on a running ledfer rig.
- Bass. Fish worm baits, bumped near likely lies, or small mepps lures such as a ‘voblex’ for plenty of fish, especially during the autumn months. Fish to 2.9 kilos have been reported.

Lagunas de Ruidera
Arguably the best fishing in Albacete - or all of Castilla la Mancha for that matter. This fishery consists of 14 lagoons, with an average depth of around 6 metes. Free fishing is available for carp, bass, nase, bass, pike, gudgeon, cauchello and crucians. The area is a national park and as such is very heavily policed. Access to the various lakes is very limited and the fishing can be very difficult. The big barbel are almost entirely nocturnal and night fishing is NOT allowed and the police are very active.

I will not go into detail on each lagoon. Suffice to know that carp to 20 kilos are present, pike to 12 kilos, plus huge barbel. Great sport can also be had for smaller species like the nase and cauchello (Iberian chub). The surroundings are beautfiul - enjoy! Coto de Yeste - Rio Segura
Good 5km day ticket stretch of the Rio Segura. The fishery runs between the confluence with the Barranco El Pollo and the confluence with the Marchana stream. The season runs from the 1st March until the 30th September. No fishing is allowed during August. Fishing is permitted on festive holidays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. - Trout. Really good bags of trout can be taken here. While most methods will work it is fair to say the best sport is to the fly. Try small nymphs if the going is hard. The fish do rise to a dry fly during the early part of the season.

Coto de Tobos - Rio Zumeta
Good 5.5km day ticket stretch of the Rio Zumeta. The fishery runs between Cortijo del Vado and Puente de Vites. The season runs from the 21st March until the 31st August. This is a catch and release fishery. Only artificals are allowed, with barbless hooks. Tickets are available from

Good 4km day ticket stretch of the Arroyo Frio. The fishery runs between Nacimiento and the confluence with therío Villaverde de Guadalimar. The season runs from the 21st March until the 27th June.
